Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. How do I replace the cartridge?

1. Remove the cover

Place the GlucoMen® READY on a firm surface, turn it over and push the upper cover upwards. Then push the left lever (white button, arrow pointing towards lower cover) all the way downwards (a small click can be heard) and pull the GlucoMen® READY out of the cover.

2. Replace the test strip cartridge

Open the cartridge compartment by pulling the cover to the left and then downwards.
Insert the cartridge in the direction of the arrow – see label (the label must be readable from the front of the meter).
Close the cover of the cartridge compartment by simply pressing it upwards and pushing it to the right.

3. Reattaching the cover

Put the upper cover on so that the longer side with the rubber seal is on the front side of the device
Ensure that the longer side of the lower cover (without a rubber seal) is on the back of the device.

2. How do I replace the lancet?

1. Remove the lower cover

Place the GlucoMen® READY on a firm surface, turn it over and push the upper cover upwards. Then push the left lever (white button, arrow points to lower cover) all the way downwards (a small click can be heard) and pull the GlucoMen® READY out of the cover.

Warning:
Before the lower cover is removed, it must be completely closed. The lever for the lower cover must be pushed all the way down, past the point of minor resistance.

2. Replace the lancet

Pull the entire lancet holder to the left, out of the GlucoMen® READY.

Tip: The used lancet is inserted in the lancet holder. The best way to remove it is to use the long shaft of a new lancet (protective cap) to push it out of the holder from behind.

To insert the new lancet, hold it by the broad, flat end and push it as far as possible through the holder.
Reinsert the lancet holder with the semicircle facing up.
Remove the protruding lancet cap by turning and pulling it off.

3. Reattaching the lower cover

Put the upper cover on so that the longer side with the rubber seal is on the front side of the device.
Ensure that the longer side of the lower cover (without a rubber seal) is on the back of the device.

Note on adjusting the penetration depth

You can control penetration depth by rotating the outer part of the lancing device against the inner part. The depth is shown by the lines on the outer part of the lancing device. The semicircle is used as a set point. (Minimum depth I to maximum depth IIII)

3. How is the lancing device triggered?

To be able to trigger the lancing device, it must first be tensioned by pulling the lower cover down all the way.

Please pull the lower cover down until you hear the 2nd click. If you pull the cover down all at once until it stops, you may not hear the clicks.

The lancing device is now ready for use. Press your fingertip against the lancet holder and push the releaser . The lancet is released by pressing the releaser.

4. . Why is there a discrepancy between the measurement result display after it is switched on and the most recently measured value?

When the meter is switched on using the On/Off button, the number of test strips still available in the cartridge is initially displayed. Thereafter the 14-day average value appears in the display. It is only by pressing the arrow key that you can obtain the individual saved measurement results, starting with the most recently measured value.

5. My meter is showing noC. What does this mean?

There is either no test strip cartridge in your GlucoMen® READY or there are no more test strips available in the cartridge. Please insert a new test strip cartridge. (See point 1)

6. The battery symbol in the display stays on during the entire measurement. What should I do?

If the battery symbol no longer disappears from the display after the display check, approximately 20 measurements are still possible with the current battery. As of this point, your measurement values will no longer be saved in the GlucoMen® READY.
After the 20 measurements, no further measurement is possible.

Tip: Always keep a replacement battery on hand, whenever possible.
You have the option of requesting a new battery free of charge in writing or via telephone from the Diabetes Customer Service. You can find our contact data here.

7. What does the "MARK" symbol on the GlucoMen® READY mean?

You can use the "MARK" symbol to mark a blood glucose measurement result. You can activate marking by holding down the On/Off button for 3 seconds before a blood glucose measurement while the "Apply sample" symbol is blinking.

Tip: Determine the values best for you which should receive this identification, e.g. all values after a meal or all fasting values in the morning.

8. What does the "CHECK" symbol on the GlucoMen® READY mean?

You can use the "CHECK" symbol to mark a measurement value which you would like to exclude from the average value calculation of the meter. Normally the result of a control solution measurement is marked with "CHECK". To apply this mark, hold down the arrow key for 3 seconds following a measurement while the measurement result is still displayed.

9. Why can't the display illumination be adjusted?

The display illumination can only be turned ON or OFF. The intensity cannot be manually adjusted, however. The display illumination appears after the measurement when the measurement value is displayed and it can only be seen in a dark environment.
